Text to Speech Online
Convert typed text to natural speech using your browser's built-in voices, instantly and entirely inside your browser.
How does this text-to-speech tool work?
This tool uses the Web Speech API's speech synthesis, built directly into your browser, to read typed text aloud using one of the voices already installed on your device or operating system. No audio file is generated on a server — the voice is synthesized locally the moment you click Play.

Features & benefits
Why this runs entirely in your browser
Text can be sensitive, so nothing typed here is sent to a server. Speech synthesis is handled entirely by your browser's and operating system's own text-to-speech engine, the same one used by built-in accessibility readers.
Common uses
Proofreading a piece of writing by listening to it, previewing how a script or script line sounds when read aloud, or testing what a particular voice sounds like before using it elsewhere.
Frequently asked questions
A few things people usually want to know before trusting the numbers.
Voices come from your operating system and browser, not from this tool — a Windows, macOS, or mobile device will each ship a different set of installed voices.
Not from this tool. The Web Speech API only supports live playback, and browsers don't provide a standard way to capture that output as a downloadable file.
Some browsers load voices asynchronously — try clicking into the text box or waiting a moment after the page loads. If none appear at all, your browser or OS may not have any speech voices installed.
No limit is imposed by this tool, though extremely long text may take a while to finish reading aloud.
No. All speech synthesis happens locally using your browser's built-in engine. Nothing typed here is sent to a server, stored, or shared.
